Dr. Jeff Sumner
Jeff graduated from the University of Guelph in 1993 with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. At Guelph he was a President’s scholar, Canada scholar and an All Canadian Athlete in swimming. Jeff received his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Toronto in 1997, while continuing to compete nationally in swimming and coaching.
After graduating, Jeff worked in the Tillsonburg area as an associate for two years before taking over Dr. Albrecht’s practice in 1999. He works with his wife, Dr. Cindy Bullough. Together they have two very active children who keep them busy when not doing dentistry.

Dr. Cindy Bullough
Cindy graduated from McMaster University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science Biology degree. She pursued a Masters degree in Genetics and Ecology. Cindy received her Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Toronto in 1998. She was honoured with the William R. Jackson award which is presented on the basis of superior ability in clinical prosthodontics, taking into account the student's interest, attitude and conduct.
Cindy worked in a private general practice in Cambridge from 2000-2005. She joined the Kitchener practice with her husband, Dr. Jeff Sumner in 2006. She has furthered her dental training with Invisalign and the chairside economical restoration of esthetic ceremics (C.E.R.E.C.) courses. She is an active member of the Canadian Dental Association.
In Cindy's spare time, she chauffeurs her children to various events and volunteers at the local public school.
Dr. James Kim
James first became interested in helping people smile with confidence when he was a student volunteer at local hospitals in Burlington and Hamilton. He learned how oral health and general health can affect each other. This prompted him to pursue studies in Health Sciences at McMaster University. Then, he completed his training at University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry to become a dentist where he also received the Clinical Excellence in Dental Photography Award.
James believes in enhancing patient care by using up to date technologies like C.E.R.E.C (chairside economical restoration of esthetic ceremics) and communicating diagnoses effectively with patients by using dental photography techniques. James also participates in continuing education programs for dentists frequently so that he can provide optimal care for his patients.
Outside of dentistry, James engages in creative activities through music and photography. He enjoys playing the violin and viola in ensembles and capturing cityscape photos while traveling.
James is a member of Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, Canadian Dental Association, and Ontario Dental Association.
Dr. Abdullah Tahiri
Abdullah, the eldest of five siblings, grew up in Toronto, Ontario where he attended Richview Collegiate Institute. He stayed home for his undergraduate to attend York University where he played football and completed his degree in Kinesiology and Health Sciences. It was there that he discovered his passion and dedication in giving back to his community. During his time at York, he started a charity with his friends for underprivileged children in the local area. He was recognized by the Ontario Government for his efforts and was awarded the Community Volunteer Service award. While at York, Abdullah met the love of his life, Michelle, and married her in 2016.
Abdullah attended Schulich School of Dentistry at Western University to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He looks forward to getting to know his patients, building long lasting relationships, and making visits to the dentist enjoyable. As a family man who has always been surrounded by children, Abdullah especially hopes to make trips to the dentist less daunting for kids. On his spare time, he loves to play basketball, spend time with his family, and continue expanding his knowledge about dentistry. Abdullah is excited and looking forward to getting to know the patients at Dentistry on Lawrence.
Dr. Jason Gopaul
Jason was born and raised in Kitchener, Ontario. He graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2014 with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Biology. He then moved to London, Ontario where he pursued a Master of Science degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology at Western University. Jason went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2020 from Schulich School of Dentistry at Western University. Jason was heavily involved throughout dental school as the President of the Student Professionalism and Ethics Association, and Vice President of Alpha Omega dental fraternity. He also took part in a dental mission trip in 2019 where he offered dental care to a rural community in Jamaica.
Outside of dentistry, Jason enjoys traveling the world, staying active, and spending time with family and friends. One of Jason’s favourite aspects of dentistry is building a rapport with patients and making them feel comfortable at the dentist. He’s excited to be back in his hometown of Kitchener to offer the best dental care for his patients. Jason is looking forward to meeting you at Dentistry on Lawrence.
Dr. Lauren Doherty
Born and raised in Kitchener-Waterloo, Lauren completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at Wilfrid Laurier University. She went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Western University, where she graduated with distinction and completed an internship in emergency care. Having a background in fine arts Lauren has a great eye for detail. She excels at creating beautiful restorations that help her patients love their smiles, and her hand-skills have been honoured with the Sam Ioannidis Award for Operative Dentistry. In practice Lauren enjoys treating patients of all ages, but her gentle personality is especially helpful to children and patients who may be a bit nervous. Passionate about giving back to her community, Lauren spends a great deal of time at community events educating families and individuals about oral health. She has traveled as far as Guatemala to provide dental care to those in need and is involved locally with Legacy Charity Group and Relay for Life. When not practicing dentistry, Lauren enjoys running outside, hiking, spending time with family & friends, and trying new recipes. Happy to be back in her hometown, Lauren looks forward to getting to know the patients at Dentistry on Lawrence.
